Comart Board Meeting and AGM adjourned after strategic marketing discussions raise issues about IBM penetration and then a fairly successful Xmas dinner/dance for 140 of my staff

The day for the Comart Board Meeting and AGMs. All statutory documents agreed and accounts signed but a good deal of difficulty in discussions on the quality of the sales forecasts and our marketing philosophy. A protracted argument on which market sectors we are selling to and, as a consequence, what future product specifications should be. In the end I cancelled the afternoon session, allowed a late lunch and adjourned the meeting until tomorrow.

Encouraging signs of government orders but the dealership and OEM sectors still quiet with IBM competition intense. Conversations with the DTI about my ideas for continuing the IBM penetration and notes compared. These last few working days have been fraught with problems of late lunches and Christmas celebrations with each department closing a different day. I am resolved to put a stop to the practice in future years. This evening the annual Comart Dinner Dance with 140 employees and guests eating and dancing at The Bedford Moat House Hotel. I give a short speech which was reasonably received but not very well prepared or to my own taste. A good evening enjoyed by all as the dance broke up at 12 midnight.
