A meeting with the fracture ward sister and senior Houseman who adjusted her treatment and made Della's leg more secure

I asked Dr Wright for advice over Della's traction after Della had a fitful night and had been sick and then had a meeting with the fracture ward sister and senior Houseman who adjusted her treatment and made her leg more secure. Then to visit Nigel to make plans for visiting Thormaid before Daniel and Angela arrived and visited Della with me, who was much more settled

I was tired after my sightly later night and was slow to wake up this morning. Diana went off to the hospital as usual and I had breakfast with Debbie before getting ready to settle down to some work. My priority was a letter to Dr Wright to brief him on our reasons to doubt the hospital treatment for Della and to ask that he visits her today and then advised us. Then the telephone went and it was Di from the hospital to tell me that Della had a fitful night and was sick at 4.00am this morning which we found very worrying.

I finished off my letter to Dr Wright and hurried over to Holly Ward hoping for the best but fearing the worst. After a wait and spending time trying to console Della, I was invited to speak to a trio comprising the deputy sister from Holly Ward, the Sister from the Fracture Clinic and the senior houseman and I voiced my concerns and, to their credit, they addressed them by spending a considerable time re-doing the traction method and making the leg more secure. The sickness could just be a bug or might be a withdrawal reaction from her drugs but it was not bad enough to be addressed. I left Diana with Della for the rest of the morning and afternoon and went home to make myself lunch and then went round to see Nigel about Thormaid.

He is definitely going up to Scotland next week regardless and I will try to follow him by plane and spend a couple of days there if Della is stable and happy for me to do so. Some time at home where I received several phone calls and heard from Dr Wright who had been in touch with the hospital. Whether it was his interest that caused a re-think by them or my concern last night I do not know but we ended the day much happier with the situation. Daniel and Angela came home this afternoon and went and sat with Della in early evening to relieve Diana. I ended the day until Della was settled at about 10.30pm and the traction had not moved all this time and so we were well pleased with today.
