Kimbolton High Street the site of the annual Kimbolton 'Statty' Fair

The whole day on my investments and financial plans after some DIY repairs and before taking the children to the Kimbolton ‘Statty Fair’ as the French bombings continue, black mining casualties fail to get treated in ‘whites-only’ South African hospitals and the Americans and Russians still make ‘tit-for-tat- moves over the spying allegations

A good night and slept in a little too, to become quite relaxed. Found Di to cut my hair first and then washed it and showered before breakfast, but made myself rather late to the table. Out to the doves and then settled to fixing the leak in the bath. The screw junction at the bath outflow was the answer and I re-seated it to make the fix. Then, to the office and spent the whole of the day working on correspondence and bill payments. First, phoned my stockbroker and accountant and worked out my financial plans.

I sold nearly £100,000 worth of FISONS shares and bought Index-linked gilts for the children’s trusts, then wrote, confirming the way in which I wanted to transfer certain other equities across, transferring the capital gain to take advantage of the annual CGT reliefs for the trusts. Broke off for lunch of salad and also had a slimming tea this evening, so that I hope to have lost a little more when I next weigh in the morning. Sorted out all manner of matters, so that I can concentrate on another range of jobs from tomorrow. After tea, I took the children over to Kimbolton Statute Fair and won three cuddlies and a goldfish for Deborah, who was thrilled. Came home with her and went back and picked up Daniel later. The news today was of killings and blasts. Five more Parisians were killed in the latest bomb explosion and over 60 more injured, as a bomb goes off in a crowded clothes store in south Paris. Another killing in Belfast of a totally blameless man, in cold blood, and the South African mining accident death toll has reached 177. Strong criticism of the safety standards by the black mining unions and the white miners get treatment in a whites only hospital. Coronation actress, Pat Phoenix, dies aged 62 of cancer of the lung. The Americans have ordered out 25 Russians from their UN team, as retaliation for recent events. After a sunny, but cold day, tomorrow should be a little warmer.
