Celebrating Debbie's 15th birthday with her old favourites friends Jo, Zoe and Tabby but, as it was raining, we could not go to Wickstead Park. Diana took them to lunch and then left them at the cinema for the afternoon.

They were then at home, eating and swimming and watching videos in the evening and out late in the garden by floodlight swimming in the pool again but then we had the worry of Daniel's friends being in the house with four nubile and overactive 15-year-olds!

The news is of terrible ructions in the Conservative Party about the chance of a leadership election to replace John Major and all this in the run up to the Euro Elections in June.

I was very tired when woken this morning but got showered and then dressed in my dressing gown in time to join the family late for breakfast. It was the day we were celebrating for Debbie's 15th birthday, and she started it by opening all of her cards and presents and she had got some good ones too!

There was some doubt right up until the end about who would still be coming for her birthday but Debbie ended up with old favourites Jo, Zoe and Tabby to share her day with. It was a pity that it was raining, and they could not go to Wickstead Park. Diana borrowed my car to take them to lunch and then left them at the cinema for the afternoon. They were then at home, eating and swimming and watching videos in the evening and out late in the garden by floodlight swimming in the pool again.

Daniel also had his friends round and then, later when we went to bed, we had the worry of Daniel's friends being in the house with four nubile and overactive 15-year-olds! Another couple of walks with Sam, perfecting his water work and some difficult retrieves. Much of the rest of the day trying to get to the bottom of the matter of the St Ives area District Council By-election at Hemingford Abbotts & Hilton. the local LibDems have got themselves into a enormous conflict. 

Despite my best efforts and very long telephone calls, I was unable to snap their chairman out of his wish to have tomorrow night's meeting as one of recrimination instead of being one of reconciliation and planning for the by-election. Helped Percy for a while, finding and printing out the last versions of the FOCUS ad. sheets and then embarked upon my overdue journal entry again.
