Olof Palme assasinated probably by Apartheid interests

The weather continuing cold and me staying in bed recovering from illness as I was in the house, secured for safety, and now poor Daniel is sick in bed but I get up and watch a film in the evening as Swedish Prime Minister, Olof Palme, was assassinated by a gunman, Sellafield leaks again and thousands of protesters were gathered for a march on Rupert Murdock’s Wapping printing plant

Slept well, but then woke early on another cold and frosty morning – just because the name of the month is different, there is no change yet to the weather. Another breakfast of porridge and brown sugar with top of the milk, taken in bed before I started to read the paper. Too cold to get up without heating and still felt weak anyway and so settled down for the morning to read the post of letters and computer journals and then finish off the Financial Times.

Di went out again this morning and was upset with me for locking up, even though I was upstairs in bed and the rest of the house was empty. It seems that Debbie was not with her, but at her friend, Amie’s, house and she was upset when I could not open the door quickly enough on her return. Lunch of sausages and stuff, with ice cream after, and then I sat in bed this afternoon and watched the rugby union international, whilst England beat Ireland 25-20. With each one of the five nations having lost a game now, the championship is wide open. Tea of toast and cakes and then I got up to have a bath. Poor Daniel is sick now and in bed, but the girls seem all right. I sit down in the lounge after and write up my journal and then Di puts on a film video about the American depression and we watch it together until it’s finished! News today of a tragedy as the Swedish Prime Minister, Olof Palme, was assassinated by a gunman and many world leaders grieve this butchery of an international man of peace. He was leaving a cinema with his wife when shot in the back by an assassin that his wife may have recognised. Sweden is shocked by this violence and mark the spot with candles and flowers in a vigil. In another leak at Sellafield, a further 5 workers were contaminated this morning in the 4th leak this year. Another 4 inches of snow fell in southern England, but only a sprinkling fell here in Cambridgeshire. The Ulster Unionist strike will go ahead on Monday and has been extended from 12 to 24 hours. Thousands of protesters were gathered for a march on Rupert Murdock’s Wapping printing plant and will set off from Tower Hill tube station.
