Me suffering from an acute stomach ache but trying some fishing to recover

A bad night and morning struggling with a big stomach ache until gradually relieved after being violently sick. We moved our boats from Salhouse to Malthouse Broad and then took The Little Lady into the dyke after mooring The Lady with our mud weight before moving on to Salhouse where we chanced upon The Fairhaven Garden Trust open day. Thatcher is defending the UK decision to support the US mine-sweeping efforts in the Gulf, and Iran threatens UK and French ships as a consequence. Back home nine are arrested after a 128 box London safe-deposit box raid, South African police force their way into a union meeting and arrest Union leaders and a year and a half after Chernobyl, there are still high levels of radiation on upland grass areas and restrictions on sheep movements

Had a real problem last night. The increasing stomach ache that I had been suffering had developed into something worse and I realised that the problem originated from something that I had eaten. Consequently, about midnight, I was violently sick and emptied the contents of my stomach down the toilet. I had become quite feverish by this time, but felt better afterwards. This morning I opted to lay in bed for a couple of hours recuperating. It was a horrid and cloudy day with both the sun and rain trying to get the upper hand, but neither did and it remained cloudy.

Lay in bed quite weak listening to the radio, until a neighbouring hire boat threatened to collide with us whilst leaving and I got up to see what he was doing. I shaved and dressed and we then cast off and made for Malthouse Broad. The dyke and river were quite crowded with boats and we had to anchor out in the broad and take Daniel's boat into the staithe. Went in with the rest of the family, although I felt quite groggy. Ate some leek and celery soup and hot roll and butter as my first food and the others ate well at The Granary restaurant that offered good service. We stayed and relaxed a while at Malthouse, the girls playing on the climbing mast and sand pit and Di doing some shopping. I kept coming over all tired and achy and so I bought a small packet of fudge to increase my energy. Then we went back out to The Lady and cruised on to South Walsham, mooring again in the Broad, as all the bank moorings were taken. This is a nice place, with the wide open water supplemented by the inner Broad for sailing etc. We went ashore and started a long walk to the village, but only made it as far as the playground and school. After, we chanced upon The Fairhaven Garden Trust open day, but, having not the time nor energy to take this walk, we satisfied ourselves with a visit to their refreshment cabin and drank well. The walk back after, taking the footpath for a more direct route. Across the Broad to The Lady, where Di made us some tea. This evening I tried fishing without success, then rowed the dinghy around the edge of the inner Broad and how peaceful and tranquil it was. Pity you are not allowed to fish there, as there seemed to be more fish activity, but the problem is the quality of the water and lack of under-water vegetation. South Walsham is a nice Broadland setting, with cottages and moorings around the outer broad and the inner broad for tranquillity. It would be perfect for sailing, but there was no wind tonight. The main news today is the aftermath of the British government’s ‘U’ turn on sending minesweepers to the Gulf. Thatcher has defended the decision as a need to protect British shipping, but politically the move amounts to an endorsement of the US initiative there. Now Iran say that British and French ships are open to attack. The best plan would have been to have a United Nations peacekeeping force, but the US do not want to give the USSR this degree of accepted influence in the area. Nine people are being questioned in London after last month’s raid on a west London safe deposit box facility, where 126 boxes were emptied. South African police have now arrested miners leaders after forcing their way into a strike meeting and it is clear that the security forces are going to support the miners management and try to break the strike. A year and a half after Chernobyl, there are still high levels of radiation on upland grass areas and restrictions on sheep movements.
