Site for the construction of a barn at Redgrave
Site for the construction of a barn at Redgrave

Writing to Mr Rodney. Self,  Planning Department, Mid Suffolk District Council, with regard to Plans & Changes at Redgrave Spar P.O & Stores.

Also to Robert Smith of the Manorial Auctioneers to include the Manor of Chilford, Cambridgeshire in their forthcoming auction

Further to our recent discussions and those with Matt Rawlings (Building Control) and Michael Munt (Conservation Officer), please now find enclosed the following applications along with cheques for £80 and £45 for the planning and advertisement applications respectively.

**"Read More" BELOW for the complete story**

1. Planning Consent - For P.O Extension & Storage Barn.

2. Listed Building - For removal of wooden barn, P.O Extension,  Replacement of rear door and windows, and erection of trough lighting for existing Spar Fascia.

3. Advertisement -  For erection of trough lighting. A Building Control application will be made for the P.O Extension on the successful resolution of the planning and listed building applications.

As previously explained the purpose of this application for a number of proposed changes to Redgrave Spar P.O & Stores is brought about by the need to replace deteriorating rear windows and the additional space required for the higher levels of shop turnover.

Being open late into the evening without any nearby street lighting, the shop lighting is designed both to make the shop visible and to illuminate the forecourt for safe access.

The new storage barn situated behind the property will take the existing wheelie bin and used crates etc, which together with the unattractive block wall and poorly built existing barn presently clutter the front and side elevations of the shop.

The barn would also be used to store packing boxes, fuel, newspaper bales, the shop trailer, and other items displaced from the existing barn.

The Post Office Extension is needed to cater for the longer hours and increased traffic now that the office has become full time and will also provide the ability for staff to move between the P.O counter and the till in a more efficient manner.

We trust that we have anticipated the various comments received during our consultations and look forward to the early consideration of these plans by the relevant authorities. Please feel free to contact us should anything else be needed for our application.

Also to Robert Smith of the Manorial Auctioneers; Further to our conversation today, I am writing to confirm our instructions for you to include the Manor of Chilford, Cambridgeshire in your forthcoming auction of Manorial Titles.
