Viewing the ancient monument of Burgh Castle
Viewing the ancient monument of Burgh Castle

The cruise from Norwich to the Stracey Arms via Great Yarmouth and Burgh Castle; saying farewell to the friendly City harbourmaster.

Some arrangements for my latest Bank of England draft and some nice food cooked by Wiggly before some television and to bed.

Another sound night after our nice Chinese meal last night and I was the first to wake up quite early and start us off on our plight to unmoor and get going.

We saw my friend, the harbourmaster, on our way out and he gave us our ticket but refused to accept our tip of £2 but insisted on giving us five 20p church raffle tickets for half of it.

He was nice about Wiggly and was fun to talk to; even if he does not support City and will be the last Tory left as he agrees their party is set to self-destruct.

A call from the stockbroker whilst we were underway to say that he had the BofE paperwork and that he could draw my cheque so I had to tell him what I wanted done with it.

Some difficulty contacting Diana and so I telephoned Daniel and got his help in liaising about paying it in with special clearance if Mike Trusswell would drop it off. We cruised on and had intended to moor up at Reedham for lunch but, finding it too congested, opted to have some of Wiggly's nice sandwiches instead.

Eventually moored up at Burgh Castle for the right state of the tide to get under the Bure bridges and, whilst we were there, I went with Wiggly for a walk around this ancient Roman monument and took some nice photographs on yet another hot and sunny day.

The tide not having yet gone out, we lay in the boat behind curtains and made love actively and satisfyingly with Sam sitting obediently on the bridge. A drink in the Fisherman's Bar and then we cast off, cruising under the Bure bridges and right on up to the Stracey Arms which we reached as darkness fell.

It meant that we were having to push against the tide but it was worthwhile to give us a flying start to the morning. Wiggly then cooked a lovely Salmon and Cheese bake to eat.

Some evening TV watching a programme about Norfolk Poachers and catering for oneself from the wild with smoked eels the main answer. Then the latest in a documentary series about life aboard HMS Brilliant before a final programme featuring football in the 1970's.

I had not watched so much TV for a very long time indeed. We retired late to bed but still did not sleep for ages due to the occupant of the boat at the next mooring having a party with a Beatles Karioke being featured as the main activity!

Eventually, I had to shine my spotlight on their boat and shut them up.
