We were still experiencing serious 'teething problems' with Toby Locke's Spar stock control and ordering system

A significant day for our management of Redgrave Stores as we were still trying to commission Toby Locke's new EPOS update and were also bedding in Circular Distributors Spar leaflet distribution locally

As we were still experiencing serious 'teething problems' with Toby Locke's Spar stock control and ordering system, I returned to progressing them now.

To Toby Locke, Epos Retail Systems - new EPOS update We are looking forward to your visit next week in order to install the new version of the software on our system which will add back the “Items not on Till” routine, and allow us to better handle American and weight barcodes.

We anticipate a certain amount of work which will be required following this update, in updating stock items which are affected, and introducing the necessary revised staff procedures.

We therefore require to know when you will be visiting and would suggest that from our point of view Wednesday afternoon/evening (starting around 4pm) would be most convenient, being a time when we can manage without the computer for other purposes and the Post Office should not be too busy.

To Carly Perry of Circular Distributors; I write further to our conversation regarding Redgrave leaflet distribution last week.

Having made further enquiries, we have discovered that the local free newspaper, the Diss Mercury is delivered only patchily in Redgrave and often not at all. This would explain why coverage of the Spar leaflets seems to have been very poor. The main local papers are the Diss Express and the Bury Free Press, which are published once a week, and sold at newsagents (including ours).

We have been advised by our Spar representative, Louis Drake, that it is possible to organise our own leaflet distribution for a payment of £30/thousand leaflets. In light of the poor distribution experienced in the past, and considering that we already have a newspaper delivery network of our own, this would seem to be the most sensible option for us.

Our market consists of Redgrave plus several outlying villages, and we have considerable knowledge of these areas which would enable us to most accurately target leaflets to likely customers.

I would be grateful for your considered response to this proposal. I hope you will find this arrangement convenient and look forward to your confirmation of these instructions."
