An early start for a meeting with Redgrave Parish Chairman, Cllr Roger Gwynn. He and his wife were very supportive of my Redgrave plans.

Sarah was keen to move in and so I had several hectic negotiations with contractors in Diss for a bathroom for the shop flat.

It was a lightening visit to the boat and back to in St Neots by 7.30pm for a meeting of the Town Council group and they supported Wiggly’s letter which I had dictated.

I spent the evening with Nigel, trying to play snooker

We were in for an early start as I had arranged a meeting with Redgrave Parish Chairman, Cllr Roger Gwynn, at 9.00am in the village.

We were a little late getting going which made for another fast drive and then we found that the Barton Mills refreshment kiosk did not open until at 8.00am as hoped for.

Still a walk for Sam and then we got to the Stores early, hoping for refreshment. Wiggly dropped me off at his house and then went on to the shop with a list of chores.

My meeting went well with both Roger and his wife very supportive though needing to be enlightened on several points. I went through the complete story and even left him with some thoughts about how the Parish Council itself could help more directly with grants etc.

We agreed that an item concerning the future of the village store would be put on the next Parish Council Agenda and I would be allowed to make a presentation to try and win their support.

I walked back afterwards and hardly had time to make some more calls to the Parish Clerk and Village Correspondent before it was time for Louis Drake of Spar with the store engineer at 11am.

This was a good meeting in which I briefed them both about our developments and then Wiggly took the engineer to review the store space and equipment and I carried on negotiations with Louis.

We covered a whole host of issues but were left still struggling over the matter of which computer system to use. I had left Wiggly to investigate the records and seek out information but she had very difficult negotiations with Alf over the asset list and became a bit demotivated and a hot and hungry female still suffering from random bouts of sickness.

Over to Horning in the afternoon to recover the cables after several hectic negotiations with contractors in Diss for a bathroom for the shop flat. Sarah was pressing for a moving date and the flat is nowhere near ready.

The builder had not turned up so we were saved the job of paying him, although we will have to remember this later in the week. It was a lightening visit to the boat with me having to bully us into doing everything at the double.

We were late all day again, having a deadline of being back in St Neots by 7.30pm for a meeting of the Town Council group to discuss policy. Wiggly was concerned that she would have a difficult time with Sheila and the others but in the end they supported her letter which I had dictated and were pleased with her efforts to reunite the group.

I spent the evening with Nigel, trying to play snooker but being distracted with his advice, arising out of Lynn's discussions with Diana, about the way I have been treating her.

Diana is one of her homeopathic patients and they seem to spending a lot of time condemning my behaviour, although it is a useful route for my to put my side of the argument back.

At first, Nigel was all for me backing off from Diana and keeping well away from The Hayling View, despite the resultant effect of losing touch with my children, office facilities and many private possessions.

Then, upon further discussion, he was all for me trying to persuade Diana to let me have the house, so that I bought her a new place elsewhere that I could call her own. Talk about going from one extreme to the other!

He kept stopping the game to concentrate on the conversation and this meant that we only managed one (which I won) and it was late that we got onto Cambridge Street etc.

This made me quite late back to Wiggly who could have been more annoyed but I did call her and leave a message, inviting her to telephone me when she got back and she opted to wait in instead.

Once I was back with her, we had a welcome stroll into town to cool down after another sweltering day and we rounded this off by getting a late-night "special chicken kebab" from a reluctant Greek and sharing it. Hopefully the following day would be less hectic.
