Undertaking urgent maintenance of my conservatory pond as Koi show disease signs as the family made and received visits.
Iraq and the U.S.-led U.N. are on the brink of another confrontation as U.N. Weapons Inspectors are denied the opportunity of either sealing weapons test sites or putting up security cameras
I had to tackle my conservatory fishpond as my main activity today. For some time, I had seen the detritus building up on the bottom and noted that the Ultra Violet Light steriliser needed a new tube; but it was signs of bacterial disease on two of the fish that made me act. Harry, who had been susceptible before, was showing some of the old symptoms of a swollen right gill cover and some skin pimples around the head, and the poor Kahuku also had a wart-type mark on its head.

Dog training day with Sam on Mill Meadow as Diana went to Priory Park with Della this afternoon for "Brownie Revels" as I spend a quiet Day at home.
The latest government row is about potential cuts to the Social Security System as Treasury Minister, Peter Lilley, opens a debate on the subject and fields the whirlwind.
It had been a cooler day with a mixture of sun and showers today as a fresh breeze blew from the north-west
A bit more fun for the dog today as I took the "dummy launcher" across with him to Mill Meadow this evening and have him a half-dozen powered retrieves. He is very keen on the sound of the blanks and the task is to keep him settled down and wait before retrieving rather than running in as the dummy was in the air. I was managing it in the end by keeping my stop whistle in my lips and giving a loud blast to hold him up when the dummy was launched.

A day driving to a pet store in Peterborough and then to Milton Keynes to collect a gun cabinet before seeing Debbie off for her French school trip.
The temperature fell to 10degC in London, for a while, the coldest July day since records began.
The G7 meeting ended up with a further agreement for a huge development loan for Russia as the key part of the former Soviet Union.
The day ended with us waving goodbye to Deborah who was off to Normandy for a week on a school trip and with Della unexpectedly in tears as she was sad to see her go! It started raining overnight and this continued for much of the day. Della joined me in taking the dog for a walk in the pouring rain but we both enjoyed it even if we did get very wet. I had to drive to Peterborough this morning to Jolleye's, the pet superstore, and Della also joined me for that. I bought sacks of food for the doves, fish and dog and marvelled just how much they all eat.

Time with the children and lots of errands with them as Daniel was home and Debbie ended her school term.
Della joined me for a long walk for Sam after which I played tennis on the riverside lawn with the children.
Ireland and The United Kingdom fall out over the call for joint sovereignty for both countries over Ulster
Yesterday was the end of school term for Della and today was Debbie's turn as Sam and I first accompanied her to the bus stop. A long walk for Sam who does not seem so concerned about food in the morning these days but is much more desperate in the evening. I will soon try to put him onto a single meal a day to be eaten in the evening. Diana went of to her "Slimming" clinic this morning and I stayed at home and kept Della company. For some time she was content to practice playing the piano but then I let her interrupt my work on the computer and let her play computer games with me.
