An early start at Harnser, preparing for Steve to fix coving to the hall, bathroom and toilet as Alan started work tiling the bathroom. Then home to celebrate my 45th Birthday by joining Diana at the Arts Theatre restaurant before home to a nice birthday tea. This evening to the Kimbolton Firework Display as a poignant reminder of Della’s accident this day last year. Bill Clinton won the U.S. Presidential Election with a landslide over incumbent George Bush.

I set my alarm radio and woke up early again, Steve getting down first and opening up the building for the work to continue. I managed about two and a half hours cutting the remaining coving for the hall, bathroom and toilet for Steve to fix whilst I was away. Alan started work on tiling the bathroom and then Steve joined him later when he had finished. My journey home was quite fast, but I ran into traffic and vehicle restrictions in Cambridge City as I tried to get to the Arts Theatre and was a bit late meeting Diana for lunch. Luckily, she was late too, and we ate together and enjoyed the company. The library, some shopping and back to the car for the journey home for a cup of tea. Some time with daylight to have a look round, try out the Rolls Royce and then inspect the mole traps where I found I had caught one; and a very big one too!

A call to Mum to find her all right and then I also had time to shave Diana and reap the reward before the girls came home. A nice birthday tea, with cake and candles to blow out and then we all got ready to go to the Kimbolton firework display. It was a poignant occasion as it was this evening one year ago that Della, rushing home to get ready for the display, had her horrific car accident. Some trouble getting the girls out and then we ran into all kinds of problems getting into the display ground as the recent rain had waterlogged the ground blocking off the main entrance. We got to our places in the end to enjoy a terrific display and, after some more trouble getting out, we got home a bit late and were tired enough for bed. It was fine and sunny today, if a little chilly. Bill Clinton won the U.S. Presidential Election with a landslide over incumbent George Bush. He has the assistance of Democrat majorities in both Houses of Congress
