A domestic day working at The Hayling View

A domestic day working at The Hayling View, clearing out gutters after the recent heavy rain, turning my compost heaps and receiving a visit from Di’s parents and swimming in our pool. Thought of taking the boat round the coast for the East Coast Boat Show but Steven was not available.

A bit groggy after my late night, but up to have breakfast with the girls and then out to clear out the down-pipe hoppers that were overflowing with the heavy rain the other day. This was a muddy job and I got a full bucket out of them by unscrewing the clips and emptying the hoppers out. The mess I made, plus an accumulation of debris, meant a long job of sweeping the areas afterwards and I got the gardener to help me and then showed him how to vacuum the swimming pool. Inside afterwards to update these last two days journal and then some more administration jobs to catch up further.

The weather has turned warm today and I was toying with the idea of taking the boat out to sea and round for the East Coast Boat Show. Steven is finishing off his navigation exams and is about to have his second interview for a potential job that looks promising. The weather forecast was promising and I gave him a call later but found out that he was reluctant to leave home at the moment because of this chance of a job and any time he gets he seems to want to spend with his other friend Derek with whom he has started a large commissioning project for his new boat. Before lunch I went out and did a number of administrative chores in St Neots.

I would have had a haircut as well but there were queues in both barbers and I did not want to wait. Di's parents came round this afternoon and picked some bedding plants from our selection of boxes for their garden. I do not know what our gardener will think about that! Ended the day with a swim in the pool with Della who was very happy with this development and then I went shovelling around our compost heaps because I found that two of them were too dry and the other two too wet; necessitating them all being turned over and mixed up. A little time watching a TV programme about pollution of ground water and then my journal and drink before bed.
