Investigating the piling on the old Heronshaw deciding that it had subsided

On another fine and sunny day, I joined the girls for a trip to Wroxham and then Di took the family and Steve’s Andrew to the beach as I work on staining the frames and finished investigating the piling on the old Heronshaw; deciding that it had subsided.

We were lucky enough to have another fine and sunny day, but I was slow to get up this morning and only just got out in time for the start of work at 8.00am. Got another coat of stain on the iroko windows and then joined the girls for a trip to Wroxham, having coffee at the normal place. Then all up to Jewson’s where we looked again at bathrooms together and I sorted out quite a lot more ordering with Richard Fisher. Lunch at The Old Tea Shoppe by the river and then Di took our girls plus Andrew to the seaside at Winterton whilst I stayed at Heronshaw to carry on staining and supervising the work. The workmen finished off the king post trusses today and then fitted the purlins along the length of the open boat-shed roof.

Alan also dug around the foundation piles of Heronshaw for me and, whilst we will dig some more tomorrow, our initial thoughts were that we had established that the original piles had gone down rather than rotted which would mean that we would not be doing much good capping them and building up of them as the same thing would happen again. Steven barbecued some sausages for this evening's tea and then Debbie and Andrew went off to play tennis. Baths all round, using Heronshaw's facilities to the full, and then quite tired to bed after a day on my feet staining the hardwood frames and windows.
