Della expressed herself unhappy with us visiting her which made Debbie cry as she had missed her horse-riding to visit

A day that ended better for Della after she had earlier been bad-tempered and expressed herself unhappy with us visiting her which made Debbie cry as she had missed her horse-riding to go. I then spent the afternoon at the hospital noticing Della's behaviour improving all the time.

We then left Diana in charge and had a welcome couple of hours rest where the only work was to type up my journal and a letter to the BNA confirming the acceptance of Nurse Michelle Howard from Eaton Socon as Della’s home nurse.

I was tired this morning when Diana brought me my morning tea and then slow to get up for breakfast and dressed thereafter. Once Diana and Debbie had gone, it took me some time to get through my chores which these days include the gardening ones but also the clearing up of the breakfast things and kitchen. Today was milder and sunnier than of late but I was still suffering from breathing difficulties. It may still be my cold or even the nose injury that I sustained in Scotland but, either way, it makes eating very difficult and exhausting and my mouth dry.

I dropped into St Neots this morning for some building society transactions and saw Ross McKay who told me that he had exchanged conciliatory letters with Michael Pope which I had wanted. Then collected Debbie from coming home from school and took her to Holly Ward to rendezvous with Diana and Della. Della was still being bad-tempered and expressed herself unhappy with us visiting her which made Debbie cry as she had missed her horse-riding to go. This taught Della a lesson in good manners for which I was glad. Di had met the second nurse interviewee this morning and approved of her so that we will be taking Nurse Michelle Howard on starting Tuesday probably.

Di then went home to prepare the downstairs room for Della and I spent the afternoon at the hospital whilst noticing Della's behaviour improving all of the time. The Deputy Sister came to see me and gave me the District Nurse's details (of which I was already familiar) and said that she had been given the details of what could be used on the back. She thought that the sticking pad was silly and uncomfortable to have there. Della was settled enough for me to watch the TV rugby and then, with Della tired later, I took Debbie downstairs for tea and Diana joined us and had some too before we came home and left Diana in charge. A welcome couple of hours rest where the only work was to type up my journal and a letter to the BNA confirming the acceptance of Nurse Michelle Howard from Eaton Socon.
