I was still trying to recover from all of the effects of polling day this morning but first had to haul the coconut palm out of the pond. The poor thing's plant pot had dried out and it had become top-heavy and toppled into the drink! It was quite a business getting it out in the end. Before long it was lunch and then time to drive over to Cambridge to chair an afternoon meeting at Glisson Road of the Constituency Campaign Strategy Meeting. This was a difficult affair, first because I had not had time to prepare an agenda and then because all present were somewhat tired and intolerant.

I retrospect it was quite productive, but I regretted that there was too much bickering between John Matthewman and Margaret Hunter to name but two. When our parliamentary PPC, Sue Sutton, announced at the end that she felt that the meeting was very demoralising and a waste of time, this just about capped it all. Home even more tired than yesterday and, after a certain amount of clearing up, I opted to go to bed early again. The full results of the Local Election show the Liberal Democrats winning more seats than anyone else and the Tories being the largest overall loser.
