The Marine Bands bomb attack in Deal

I made a visit to the riding school this morning on a very warm and sunny day to help owner Fiona move some jumps from the back field and then the drive to Sawtry with Diana to collect the Range Rover which had been re-sprayed and was looking as good as new.

The afternoon watching Ryder Cup golf whilst continuing work on my Focus newsletter artwork, continuing this evening until it was time to take Di to the ‘Bavarian Disco’ in aid of the Village Hall funds.

Security forces search for three Irishmen suspected of the Marine Bands bomb attack as a third of the ambulance crews are now off on strike

I had a lay in and was the last one down to breakfast again. I worked at my desk for a while, fed the doves and fish, and then drove over to the riding school where I had arranged to help Fiona move some jumps from the back field. Di had taken Debbie over earlier, but I took Della who enjoyed the visit. It was quite a physical job loading them all onto a horse box and then unloading them again, but we had finished in a couple of hours with the help of all of the stable girls. I came back to pick up Di and then we went up to Sawtry to collect the Range Rover.

They had done a very good job on the respray and the car looked as good as new. The paint and lacquer were still soft and so I put the car away carefully afterwards and left it there, in the garage, for the rest of the day. This afternoon, I watch the Ryder Cup golf on the TV and carried on working on my Focus newsletter artwork This continued after tea as well, until I finally completed it by 8pm and it was time to get ready to go out with Di.

We had bought tickets for the ‘Bavarian Disco’ in aid of the Village Hall funds and intended to go for an hour to show willing. There were 200 people having a good time, and we danced, chatted and had a drink before leaving them to it. At least we had shown our support, although it was not our type of event.

The news tonight was of the search for three Irishmen suspected of the Marine Bands bomb attack. The government is under increasing attack using private security firms for military security. A third of the ambulance crews are now off the road due to the industrial action. Today was very warm and sunny for the season.
