Using Pete’s help, I spent the day painting our river frontage steel quay heading and the evening at a meeting Huntingdonshire District Council Planning Committee proposing my motion against the new housing development between St Neots and Cambridge .

A long day working on the painting of my river frontage. I recruited Pete’s help to apply the overcoat of black Tractol as I continued to wire brush the steel and apply the first coat of red oxide primer: Pete in the dinghy and me on the steps in the river, being able to wade from time to time.

By the end of the afternoon we had achieved quite a lot, but another day’s work is necessary. This evening, I got ready for the Huntingdonshire District Council Planning Committee. My motion against the new housing development between St Neots and Cambridge was first on the agenda and I had the right to speak first and a right of reply afterwards. In the end the Tories amended the motion out of all recognition and watered it down to have no effect. Later, the other issues affecting my ward were resolved and it seems that this outcome at least is satisfactory. I was unable to attend a depleted meeting of the local Democrats, but I believe it went quite well with many action items agreed
