Kimbolton teaching staff, as the ‘Montague players’ put on an evening of humour and music

Late up on a dry but colder day after an overnight frost and then to Bedford for hair appointments and Christmas shopping. Then to Weald House to find dad getting steadily worse but Mum much better before an evening with the family watching the Kimbolton teaching staff, as the ‘Montague players’ put on an evening of humour and music called ‘we have ways of making you laugh’ when our children enjoyed their teachers making ‘fools’ of themselves. The ambulance talks ending in disappointment and rest of the news is of a world full of unrest and violence.

I was late to bed and then late to rise but I came to the table in my dressing gown for breakfast so as to be with the family. Then I decided to accompany Diana to Bedford and, while she had a hair appointment, I also sorted out a hair shampoo and cut for me as well. We met for coffee and lunch at Debenhams and, between that, did some Christmas shopping. I bought nice cards for the family.

Home and then on to see Mum and Dad at Weald House. Dad gets daily worse but Mum (after us having heard worrying reports from Joan and Pete who visited yesterday) seemed much better. It seems she had some palpitations or angina yesterday but now seems recovered. Later this afternoon, I called some journalists back on St Neots Museum matters and cashed my parents allowances at Little Paxton post office. I now must send off the books for authorisation for me to sign as Dad can no longer do it. Home for tea and then out this evening with Di, Daniel and Debbie to an entertaining Kimbolton evening. The teaching staff, as the ‘Montague players’ put on an evening of humour and music called ‘we have ways of making you laugh’ which was good. The children enjoyed their teachers making ‘fools’ of themselves. Home at 11pm, much later than the kids normally expect, and thus tired to bed. The news today is of hopes dashed with the ambulance talks ending in disappointment with the union saying that management have not moved, and they have been lured back to talks under false pretences. The rest of the news is of world full of unrest and violence. Today was dry but colder than of late with an overnight frost
