I took Debbie and Della to the riding stables on a fairly fine day with Della enjoying her third riding lesson before I drove over to spend the morning canvassing in Eaton Socon for Derek Giles. We experienced some encouraging results and have two leaflets delivered and two thirds of the area canvassed for the opposition have even started their campaign! To Nigel Smith’s surprise 40th birthday party this evening where the ‘stripper-gram girl’ made a good impression.
A fairly fine day, not too windy or cold and only rain in the air at times. Daniel had school as usual and I took both Debbie and Della to the riding stables. It was Della’s third riding lesson and she rode Peppermint (‘Minty’) and I ran alongside with Fiona directed things. Debbie also had a lesson and then I left Della to stay at the stables and she played with Clarissa, Fiona’s daughter.

I drove on to Eaton Socon, changed and spent the morning canvassing for Derek Giles. The reception was reasonable considering that I was visiting a very Tory area, but I then got even better support from some of the other roads. Back home for lunch when I fed the Koi carp. They are becoming quite tame and soon more of them may feed from the hand. Back in Eaton Socon after lunch where I canvassed the Great North Road. There were several helpers today and it seemed that we now have two leaflets delivered and two thirds of the area canvassed for the opposition have even started their campaign. This evening, we had an invitation to Nigel Smith’s surprise 40th birthday party. There were quite a few there, his staff doing the catering with Lynn and there was much to drink in a party that went on quite late. Highlight of the evening was a very tasteful ‘stripper-gram girl’ who came dressed as a policewomen and then stripped her bra and suspenders and read him a rhyme before kissing him – “all in the best possible taste”. I did not get anything like that on my 40th birthday! Home very late and some trouble sleeping after all the alcohol and near-naked girl excitement before a tumble with Di put things to rights!
