On a cooler and breezier day that of late I saw Daniel off to school for his GCSE computing case study and took Debbie for her last horse-riding session before our holiday. In between, I fielded history book queries and received my thanks from my Old Village friends and heard that Sally Guinee is joining our campaign. The domestic economic performance get worse as does the British/Soviet bloc problems but Soviet Union, the newly-constituted Congress reaffirmed the election of Mikhail Gorbachev as State President

A very different day – overcast and with the brisk breeze that made the weather seemed much cooler than of late – but the thermometer was still reading above 70°F! Daniel was off to school to do his GCSE computing case study. I stayed at home to prepare some more book shipments and I was also due to write the ‘Thank You Focus’ newsletter with Michael but he had another of his migraine attacks and could not come. I had phone calls from the Express journalist, who wanted a review copy of my book, the Little Paxton newsagent who wanted to stock my books for sale, and a host of other enquiries. I say, in jest, that I look forward to the starting of a branch library in Little Paxton – when I can then pass on those local informational queries! I heard from Sally Guinee who is interested in joining us, which will help Michael on the St Neots Town Council in due course.

Touchingly, I was delivering extra copies to Ivy Burnage, Polly Hall and Marjorie Shepherd and they were all so pleased with the book. This afternoon, Percy Meyer came over and we worked on the Focus newsletter together and I continued this evening. Earlier, I collected Debbie from school and took her to her horse riding for the last time before our holiday. The news today is of the mounting British/Soviet bloc problems as Czech diplomats are the latest to be ordered out of Britain. The British government has come under further attack over the poor economic performance of the country. In the Soviet Union, the newly-constituted Congress reaffirmed the election of Mikhail Gorbachev as State President.
