To Milton Park, the country park of Lady Fitzwilliam near Peterborough, for  Debbie’s first horse-riding event where she had a good learning experience and won two rosettes for some modest accomplishments with the Minimus Jumping Course and Minimum Cross Country. Home to take Daniel for an evening driving lesson as former Prime Minister Ted Heath criticises Thatcher for ‘misleading people over the EEC’

We had a very early start today – up at 5amand out with Debbie at 6am to get Sundance ready for the Hunt Supporters Club meeting at Milton Park. It all went to plan, and Sundance went straight into his box at 7:30am and the rest of us went by car to this country park of Lady Fitzwilliam near Peterborough. Once there, we had to tack the ponies up and walk to the courses and try to work out the order of events. First, Debbie tried the Minimus jumping course and won a rosette for a clear round at the third attempt. Then she entered the 14.2 hands show-jumping and was eliminated the three refusals at the first fence. The course was difficult, and she had just seen a rider take a very bad fall and escape serious injury. We then tried the more difficult minimus jumping but made little headway and so we had a picnic lunch. Later, Debbie went clear in the minimus cross country at the second attempt.

The course had a difficult water obstacle and some tough jumps that put off in the first round. Then Alex (on minty) tried to get away from her on the second round on the task of keeping up made pony and rider go forward enough to take all of the obstacles in their stride. Debbie went like the wind and was very excited to go clear. Two rosettes for her trouble! The cheque home in the long task of grooming Sundance and tidying away the tack. This evening, I took Daniel for a long driving lesson and dropped off the necessary signatories to force a Little Paxton Parish Council By-Election. The going was good and all perfect. Politically, Thatcher is under fire from former Prime Minister Ted Heath for ‘misleading people over the EEC’
